Yankee Doodle Pops.

Happy 4th of July! This is a strange holiday for us this year. We didn't go to the big OC party with Kley's family, because we were working yesterday and because we're going on vacation with them on Saturday. My family left yesterday to visit my brother in Dallas (where he is doing his internship), so we are alone for the holiday. Maybe others do that more often, but for us, it's super strange and sad to have a holiday without any family! Fortunately, we had a good time last night and are glad to have the day off today to celebrate our great country/get ready to leave soon!

Last night we went to Yankee Doodle Pops for the first time! We went with two awesome couples from our small group at church, and I'm glad we went! I didn't know what to expect really, but it was good. I thought it would be more of a concert, but the music (from the Des Moines Symphony , was more like background music and everyone was sitting around playing games, eating, and lighting sparklers.

All the people (this doesn't even give you a good glimpse- there were a ton of people there!)

The Capital.

Sunsets.

More people.

Playing card games.

Getting darker!

Fireworks! (I love the camera Kley gave me last year- definitely takes better pictures!) I thought it was so cool to have the fireworks above the downtown skyline!

Hope you have a great day! We are grateful for our lives here and thankful for those fighting for our country.
