Hello and welcome to A Day with the De Jongs! My name is Kelsey and I am so glad you are here. I am married to Kley (August 2010), mom to Norah (October 2014), and twins Lucy and Ellory (February 2017). Welcome to our story!
Here is a brief synopsis of our timeline:
Kley and I met my freshman year at Bethel University in St. Paul, MN, on an awkward roommate roulette date (where your whole floor goes and your roommate asks the guy for you.) It's neat because Kley's aunt was a pastor at the church I grew up going to in Des Moines, IA, and we both had been told we should connect, but hadn't met yet. My floor did this in the first month of school, and I was too homesick still to even think of speaking to a boy, so I told my roommate to ask him since I at least knew his name. God works in amazing ways!
We started dating a month after that in 2007, got engaged the summer of 2009, and got married the summer of 2010. We lived in Minneapolis our first year of marriage while I finished school and Kley worked for a year. After that, we moved to Des Moines in 2011, where I was a preschool teacher for three years and Kley went to law school. We had a wild season in 2014, where our daughter Norah was born, we moved, and Kley graduated.
We are now living in NW Iowa, where Kley practices law with his dad, and I am honored to stay at home with our three girls. We are very thankful to be where we are at!
