College reunion!

Today I drove up to Minneapolis and back. That's a lot of driving for one day! But, I am so glad that I was able to go. I got to see my old college roommates, and we haven't all been together in a very long time!

Brittany is in Iowa for the month doing her clinical at a hospital. Jackie just moved from VA to WI and is in MN with her family for a bit until they move in. Kristin was in town from ND visiting her family. Kari is the only one that actually lives in the cities.

I met Brittany half way and we drove up together, which was nice to share half the ride with a friend! All five of us were able to meet at Panera for lunch. It was so nice to be all together again and catch up. Yay for college roommates!

After that we headed to Jackie's baby shower (the main reason for heading up there). She was my college freshman roommate, and we are due only one week apart! Crazy!

Despite all the driving, it was a fun afternoon of seeing friends.

Saturday sweetness (with the balloons).

Today was an awesome Saturday. Weekends are just great! Kley and I didn't have anything today, which was so nice after having a really busy week. We slept in this morning, and I slept later than I have in a long time. Better get it in now before baby comes, right? :)

I did a few loads of laundry at my parents (I actually really don't mind doing laundry), and even packed a few boxes to move to our new house. My first goal is to move everything out of my parent's basement that we have stored there, and then start to focus on our apartment. I'm glad we have plenty of time to get things sorted through, packed, and situated. Being in a rush would not be fun.

This afternoon we went to a movie. I have been told by people that we should take in as many movies as we can before baby comes, because after you have kids you'll rarely ever see a movie in the theatre again. So, we looked at what was playing and chose Wish I Was Here. There wasn't anything specific we were wanting to see, and we thought that was the best compromise option that we both would possibly like. Honestly, it wasn't very good. I wouldn't recommend it. There was a lot of language, and I found myself not being able to really connect to any of the characters in the family. Boo.

Tonight we went to the National Balloon Classic in Indianola. I am so glad that we went! We went for the first time a couple years ago with some friends (before I started this blog, so there isn't a post about it), but this time was so much better! The weather was not the best last time, so there weren't too many balloons that took off.

This time it was perfect weather and there were balloons everywhere! It was so neat to see. I loved watching them all take off and fill up the sky. It was beautiful! Such a fun outing. If you live in the Des Moines area, you should definitely go!

It was really busy!

The first take-off.

Starting to inflate.

Taking off.

There were so many balloons! It was amazing.

Hope your Saturday was equally as wonderful!

Also, as another side note to tag on, I finished You Should Have Known by Jean Hanff Korelitz this week. It was pretty good! It was an interesting story about a marriage counselor who ends up finding out her husband was crazy and did all these horrible things. It was a tiny bit slow moving at times for me, but did a good job of including all the details and the timeline was very realistic. I liked it, but the whole idea of it was just sad.

Baby videos.

Sometimes I like to watch baby videos on youtube because it makes me happy. Everyone should do it.

I can't wait to post videos of our own baby!

Branson weekend with the family.

This week Kley and I took off Thursday/Friday from work and headed to Branson with my family. It was so nice to get away for a few days! We had a lot of fun. Thursday was mostly a drive day. When we got there we just unpacked/hung out at the cabin, had dinner at Danna's BBQ, and played games.

Danna's was actually quite delicious. Here is the first family shot!

Kley and I.

Sometimes pregnancy makes me eat a lot, and this was so good. :)

Here was our dessert for the table!

Friday was our day on the lake, and it was so nice! Living the boat life. :)

Turtles in the water- we all wanted to keep one.

Getting the boat ready.

It was a nice day- a tiny bit cloudy/chilly at times, but overall it was excellent.

Here is Kley, jumping off the top. :)

Kley is working with school-aged kids this summer, so he thinks it's cool to make peace signs.

Karlie and Kayla on the tube. Unfortunately, I couldn't ride, but it was still really fun to watch!

My mom actually went down the slide multiple times. For any of you who know my mom, you know how surprising that is. Rarely does she get in the water. Way to go, mom!

Everyone in the lake.

Friday night we went for dinner at Ledgestone Grill, which was at the place where we were staying. Unfortunately, it was a disappointment. The menu described the salad as "exquisite," and it really wasn't. Also, we went there primarily for steak, and after we all ordered, they came back and said they were out of steak. Oh well.

A great sibling picture. :)

After dinner we went mini-golfing.

Saturday the boys went golfing and the girls hung out at the pool.

Relaxing at the pool is so nice. I love it.

In the afternoon we went shopping. I was bummed that not one of the stores carried maternity clothes, but it was still fun.

Saturday night we had dinner at Florentina's for Italian food.

Then we went and saw Jonah! It was really good.

It was a great weekend away! I love my family!
