Recent reads 7/5/15.

Here is what I have been reading recently!

1. Bossypants by Tina Fey. I thought this was quite funny. There were several times where I actually laughed out loud. In the beginning, she talks a lot about her experience with homosexuals and how she is for gay marriage, which I could have done without that part, but overall it was pretty good. She also talked about 30 Rock, her TV show, which I have never watched, so was a little hard to follow. I especially liked her chapters about being a mom, because that's where I'm at these days. I wouldn't tell you not to read it, I wouldn't give it a raving review, I would say "sure."

2. The Color Purple by Alice Walker. I quit reading this book at about page 80. I wished twice before that that I had quit, and I should have followed by gut sooner. Once I found out that it had also been made into a movie, I kept reading, thinking that it must be good for it to become a movie, but I just never liked it. It's about an African American woman living in the south, and she goes through lots of abuse. I know that abuse and awful situations happen and it's terrible, but I don't want to read an in-depth account about it. I don't feel like that's beneficial. I would not recommend.

3. Sparkly Green Earrings by Melanie Shankle. I loved this book and it's one of my favorites that I've read in a long time. I would definitely recommend, especially to new moms. It's a memoir about being a mom, and she just shares stories about what it's like. She is a Christian and hilarious. I loved this and finished it quickly! She has a few other books that I want to read also!
