Norah had her 5th grade overnight field trip! This was her first overnight away other than at grandparents, wow! I'm glad I was able to go along as a chaperone. We had a good time enjoying Hidden Acres camp. We did some centers rotating through animal plaster casts of prints we found on the trails, learning about animal teeth and how they use them, going on a nature hike and learning about how they used plants long ago, and learning about all different kinds of fish and fishing. At night, we had free rotation centers with the big swing, canoeing, fishing, paddle boating, archery/BB guns. We had absolutely beautiful weather for it, so that was amazing! We did not sleep well with tight cabins and uncomfortable beds, but we were expecting that and it was fine for one night. Overall it was fun and I think all the kids had a good time!
After Hidden Acres, we headed to Des Moines for a tour of the capital building. Norah and I had both been before, but it was fun to see a tour! I hadn't seen the library or gone to the top of the whispering tour before, so that was neat.
